Jimmy Nelson
Through the Human Lens
Photographer Jimmy Nelson has been travelling the world for more than thirty years to meet people. Known for books such as Before They Pass Away and the immersive Fabrique de Lumière exhibition The Last Sentinels, he uses photography as a way to explore human connectedness. In his very first theatre production Through the Human Lens, Jimmy steps out from behind the camera and onto the stage. He brings the audience on a journey through the stories, doubts, insights and intimate moments that have shaped his work. Encounters in which one central question returns: what happens when two people look at each other without haste or judgment? What Jimmy hopes to share with his audience is simple yet essential: our humanity becomes visible when we take the time to truly see one another.
